ETS Pedagogics

The pedagogical fundamental idea within ETS is that use should bring about knowledge. For this reason it is of great importance that the results of the users can be evaluated objectively.

The system is primarily used to analyze the adequacy of different goals and hypotheses of continuance planning and patient management. The results can specifically identify an organisations weakness. To achieve this, standards of what is good and desirable are needed.

The use of ETS demands that instructors have adequate competence and insight in Disaster Medicine. If an organisation does not have the right conception and competence of what is good, ETS offers a number of “performance indicators” as a help.

The most important outcome is that of the patient and whether he/she is in risk of complications or death due to no or late treatment.

Further, it is also important to strive towards a well functioning management; making the right decisions within the right time frame. ETS gives possibility for users to follow own goals matched to the conditions.

Another important issue is time. This means that the time concerning the patient is measured through different studies and by studying updated literature. ETS also points to the importance of a valid doctrine with common definitions and management structure. Further, if lacking a defined doctrine, ETS gives suggestions of one.

By focusing on measurable and recurring evaluation criteria, ETS has the possibility to compare results between organisations through time.
The use of ETS is built upon the Senior Instructor and his/hers knowledge of pedagogic, use and ability to evaluate. Senior Instructor Cources are available in both Swedish and English.
