Figurant cards that can be used in live-exercises have been developed and tested. These cards can be used in exercises instead of applying make-up on the mock-victims, the figurants. These cards contain the same information regarding the injury and status of the patients as the Emergo Train System patients.
In addition to this, the instructors have the possibility to change status of the figurant according to procedures performed by the trainees at the exercise. The figurant cards make it possible to have a link between live-exercises and simulation exercises. The figurant can, for example, after leaving the scene of incident be "transfered" to an Emergo Train System patient that can continue in a simulation exercise. This will make exercises less expensive and easier to plan and conduct.
The cards have been tested in an exercise at an airport (Arlanda, Stockholm Sweden) and in a train accident (Norrköping, Sweden). The evaluation process of the cards is in progress and results from this will determine future development.
